Approach to Health

The whole is greater than the sum of its part.

This simple principle underlies the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as well as any treatments and services in our clinic.

That is why we take a holistic approach, where we treat the cause, not just the symptoms. Only by healing the body as a whole, can long-term health be achieved and hidden trauma be addressed.

By promoting the body's self-healing mechanism, patients can benefit relieve from complex and chronic conditions, such as:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Infertility
  • irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Allergy & sinusitis
  • Migraine headaches
  • Vertigo
  • Mood disorder

What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient and traditional method of health care that can be traced back at least 2,500 years.

The main principle of TCM is that there are patterns of energy flow (Qi) through the body that are essential for life. When there are obstructions to the flow of Qi, the body cannot perform functions at its highest level, causing disharmony, and in some cases, illness and disease.

Wellness in many cases, involves manipulating Qi so that the natural balance of the body is returned. At our clinic, we focus mainly on two components of TCM, Acupuncture for external manipulation, and Herbal Medicine for internal manipulation.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting hair-thin, sterile needles in identifiable pressure point just below the skin (acu-points). The needle allows pin-point accuracy when stimulating the acu-point. When a combination of acu-points are stimulated together, it can produce a response in the body and manipulate the flow of Qi.

While inserting needles might sound scary, acupuncture needle is not only many times thinner than an injection needle, it is also placed a lot shallower as well. For majority of people, it is painless and even relaxing, in fact, falling asleep is common during an acupuncture session.

What is Herbal Medicine?

The Chinese herbal Combinations (Formulations) are marvelous and unique to this system of medicine. Herbs do not work in the body the way drugs do. Unlike modern pharmaceuticals and hormones that usually consist of one purified active ingredient, herbs contain many different active ingredients that act synergistically in the body. Herbs work on the body at a number of different levels and treat the underlying imbalance instead of solely controlling symptoms.
